Hair loss is quite common in people of all ages. Gone are the days when hair thinning and baldness were related to old age. Now boys as young as in their late teens and early 20s are seeking hair transplant surgeries to restore their receded hairlines and balding crowns. While women are lucky enough to not go completely bald, hair loss is still one of their biggest cosmetic nightmares. Like boys, young girls in their teenage are also seen struggling with hair loss problem quite often. If you are one of the early hair loss victims, stop fretting! Here we will discuss with you what may be causing you to shed hairs, as knowing the underlying cause is the first step towards an effective hair loss treatment in Dubai.

There are numerous causes of hair loss in teenage females. Five most common causes are listed below:

  1. Hormonal Imbalance

Hormonal imbalance is the most common case of hair loss in growing girls. Every girl undergoes several hormonal changes during her teenage. These hormonal changes lead to several medical conditions in them such as thyroid disease, diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome and lupus. These conditions can in turn interrupt hair growth cycle leading to sudden hair loss.

  1. Medications

Pharmaceutical medications are often prescribed to teenage girls to treat various conditions – most of them may be due to hormonal changes. Although these medicines are really effective in treating the conditions they are prescribed for, they often bring with them certain side effects as well, hair loss being one of them. Some particular medications that can cause hair loss include lithium, amphetamines, isotretinon and chemotherapy drugs used for cancer.

  1. Eating Habits

Hair is made up of dead protein and certain nutrients such as vitamin A, B, C and numerous other mineral. An efficient supply of iron is necessary to promote health of your hair. Teenage girls often suffer from eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia. This can ultimately lead to deficiency of key nutrients that their bodies need for efficient hair growth. Teenage females who are vegetarian or go on crash diets are also susceptible to hair loss.

  1. Hare Care Regimen

Improper hair care or wearing certain types of hairstyles can also cause hair loss in teenage females. Growing girls are most conscious about their looks and keep experimenting with their hairs for a different look every couple months. These experiments can include coloring changing hair color, or exposing hairs to different chemicals to change their texture (to perm them or make them straight or curly). In addition to that, use of hot tools like flat irons or curling rods can also damage hairs, causing them to become dry and brittle. Wearing tight hairstyles can result in a specific type of hair loss known as Traction Alopecia.

  1. Fungal Infection

Fungal infections can also trigger hair loss, at any stage and teenage girls are no exception. There is a wide variety of fungal infections and skin conditions that can result in hair loss. These include Ringworm, Folliculitis, Demodex folliculorum, Seborrheic Dermatitis and scalp psoriasis.
