How FUT Hair Transplant Procedure is Performed
FUT or Strip method hair transplant is a simple procedure performed on outpatient basis under local anesthesia with and affordable FUT Strip Hair transplant cost in Dubai. The surgeon starts by shaving the donor area and then administers local anesthesia to numb it. A linear strip of hair bearing skin is excised from the donor site and handed over to the technical staff. Donor area is closed using either absorbable sutures or staples. The technical staff then carefully dissects it under a powerful microscope to separate individual grafts. In the meanwhile, surgeon administers local anesthesia to the recipient site and creates tiny incisions there for plantation of harvested grafts. Once the recipient site is ready, the surgeon carefully places the grafts in each incision. The entire process takes anywhere between 6 and 8 hours, depending upon the extent of baldness and the number of grafts required.
What To Expect After FUT Hair Transplant
Once the effect of local anesthesia begins to subside, you will start feeling pain and discomfort in the treated areas. But your surgeon will prescribe medicines to minimize the discomfort. Besides that, applying cold compression may also help relieve itching and pain. Take rest as much as possible, at least for the first 24 to 36 hours. Avoid indulging in any strenuous activity. Also sleep with two to three pillows under your neck. This will help minimize chances of bleeding as well as swelling in the treated areas. Most patients are able to resume routine activities within 5 to 7 days.
Post-Op Care:
- Don’t wash your scalp for the first 24 hours
- Don’t touch the grafts or scratch your scalp
- Sleep with your head elevated at an angle of 45 degrees for first few nights
- Don’t smoke, drink or take drugs
- Avoid blood thinners, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and other pain killers
- Avoid vigorous activities that increase your pulse and cause you to sweat
- Don’t expose your scalp to direct sunlight for 3 to 4 weeks at least
When Will I See The Results
FUT hair transplantation is not an overnight hair regrowth procedure. You will have to wait patiently for several months before any hair regrowth will become notable. In fact, your scalp will go worse before it will start improving. Transplanted hair as well as some of your healthy hair will fall off between 3rd and 5th week following surgery. This is quite normal and the phenomenon is called shock loss. By 6th month 60% of the hair regrowth can be seen. It takes 12 to 18 months before an individual is able to see the ultimate outcome of the surgery.
